Sharon and Slava Grigoryan are, separately, two of Australia’s finest classical musicians performing works for cello and guitar.
Individually, they have performed at the very top level of the international and Australian classical music scene. Together, they are a powerhouse of virtuosity and exquisite musical expression.

From Classical gems by Bach and Ravel to contemporary compositions, including their own creations and arrangements, this concert promises to illuminate beloved favourites in a fresh, captivating light.
The repertoire boasts the rich sounds of Bach/Marcello’s Concerto in D minor, Assad’s Jobiniana No. 4, and Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango, among other spellbinding pieces. Suitable for all ages, the Pavilion opens its doors at 5pm to welcome audiences with a beverage surrounded by towering gum and a symphony of birds.

Sharon and Slava Grigoryan: the collaboration

Sharon & Slava Grigoryan are an example of such a synergy, resulting in music that connects deeply with the listener. Perhaps it is their union professionally and in life that provides the intangible factor fuelling their passionate and sensitive performances. Their repertoire spans cultures, generations and genres – from standard works for guitar and cello (Vivaldi, Granados, Piazzolla) to creations by contemporary composers, their own compositions and arrangements which shine a new light on familiar favourites. Slava Grigoryan is an acknowledged guitar master on the world stage. Sharon Grigoryan has forged a formidable career throughout Australia performing with all major symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles, including her seven-year tenure with the Australian String Quartet. Sharon & Slava Grigoryan’s debut album ‘Our Place’ (ABC) was nominated for Best Classical Album at the 2020 ARIA Awards.
Sharon Grigoryan
Sharon’s position as cellist with the Australian String Quartet (2012 – 2020) was the most recent highlight in a career spanning 15 years. From 2008 to 2012 Sharon was a member of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has performed with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Spira Mirabilis Chamber Orchestra, as well as being a core member of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra. In 2015 Sharon performed as a guest with the Australia Ensemble and Australian World Orchestra. She was Artistic Director of the Barossa, Baroque and Beyond Music Festival from 2016 to 2021.
Slava Grigoryan
Regarded as a wizard of the guitar, Slava has forged a prolific reputation as a classical guitar virtuoso. Collaborations have played a huge part in Grigoryan’s career, most notable of these are in the trio with legendary USA guitarist Ralph Towner and Austrian guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel and the duo with brother Leonard Grigoryan. He has received 4 ARIA awards and an incredible 24 ARIA Award nominations. His international touring schedule has seen him perform throughout Europe, Asia, and the USA, as well as more exotic performances in Brazil, South Africa, India and the Middle East. Slava is the Artistic Director of the Adelaide Guitar Festival, a position he has held since 2009.
