Caravana Sun
From touring with iconic artists Madness and UB40 to swimming with whale sharks in Exmouth for the Whale Shark Festival, Caravãna Sun has built up quite the reputation beyond the sunny shores of Australia. Hailing from Southern Sydney, Caravãna Sun formed in 2010 and consists of Luke Carra (guitar/vocals), Ant Beard (bass/vocals), Chris Smithson (keys/vocals) & James Smithers (drums).
By 2016 the band had performed at over 500 shows from all corners of the globe, released three full-length albums, including the critically acclaimed album Guerrilla Club (2016), with the Sydney Morning Herald calling it “a sonic treat” with 4/5 stars and ”An album so full of otherworldly imagery and highly evolved instrumentation” by Rhythms Magazine.
Benji & the Saltwater Sound System
As the saying goes, a dash of salt brings out the best in everything… and when it comes to music it doesn’t get more appetising than Benji and the Saltwater Sound System. Since their formation a couple of years back, this tangy tribe of groove merchants have hit the shoreline swimming.
Like all of the greatest live acts, their sound is ever revolving – responding to the audience and the room, taking bold new turns and venturing into new territory. It was this willingness to grow and develop that led to the band’s infectious debut album, Coming Up for Water, featuring the much loved live favourite Top Bunk Trait – garnished in sweet guitar licks and feet-pounding horns.
Benji and the Saltwater Sound System fuse Pacific flavours with the raw rolling sounds of the Australian Pacific coast. Add to this the poignant lyrics and a will to transcend genre and you’re part the way there. The band has graced some of Australia’s most iconic stages.
Felicity Dowd
“A nomadic troubadour and storyteller spinning tales and melodies across the country…”
Australian Folk Music Award’s Youth Artist of the Year (2023), Toyota Starmaker Grand Finalist (2024), NSW Folk Federation Young Artist of the Year (2020) and Gill Rees Memorial Award winner at the 2023 National Folk Festival, Felicity Dowd is one of Australia’s most promising up-and-coming musicians!
Inspired by an eclectic and ever-changing landscape of genres her music is diverse, drifting between the boundaries of Folk and Country. She has always believed a song is only as good as its story, sharing stories of depth, heart and humour that intertwine the experiences of the world around her. This ideology and passion has been noticed by industry professionals, having already earned this young songwriter 4x Tamworth Songwriting Association Salute Awards, including the 2023 New Songwriter of the Year at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
‘Blue Skies’, her first single released in early March 2021, debuted at number one on the Country Itunes chart and AMRAP chart in its first week. Her third single ‘Handle It’ achieved similar success being named the most downloaded track on Play MPE on release day as well as the number 2 position on the AMRAP chart and 3rd on the Country Itunes Chart.
Hailing from the NSW South Coast, Felicity Dowd has wowed audiences across the country, from main stages at Australia’s most prestigious events (National Folk Festival, Wanderer Festival and Cobargo Folk Festival) to support slots with music royalty, the Bushwackers, Josh Cunningham (The Waifs), Felicity Urquhart, Fanny Lumsden and Tex Perkins (The Cruel Sea).
Living full-time in her vintage 1974 Travelhome Caravan, suitably named “Van Morrison”, Felicity is travelling to a venue near you. So check out the dates page, grab some tickets and don’t miss the chance to see this incredible artist live!
