Nyah Cockle

Position: Cellist

Nyah Cockle began studying the cello at age seven and immediately fell in love with the instrument. After graduating high school in 2023, Nyah successfully auditioned for the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, receiving an unconditional early offer through which she will complete a Bachelor of Music in Performance, commencing study in 2024. Nyah will complete her four year degree under the tutelage of Julian Smiles, renowned cellist and long-standing member of the Goldner String Quartet.

To date, Nyah’s achievements include successfully auditioning for the prestigious youth orchestra, the Young Mannheim Symphonists, where she has attended three NSW State Intensives and two National Academies, most recently hosted in Brisbane by the Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra (ARCO). Nyah has also played with the Sydney Youth Orchestra many times for music intensives as well as the Western Sydney Youth Orchestra. Nyah has had the opportunity to play alongside the Sydney and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras in concert, inspiring her dream to play in orchestras across the world.

Music is Nyah’s biggest passion and hopes to leave a positive impact on people’s live through playing and sharing music.
