Mother’s Day at Four Winds - an afternoon of soaring vocal textures and delicately interwoven melodies featuring Luminescence Chamber Singers performing ‘Of The Body’.

Composer and tenor @dan_c_walker’s latest work will take centre stage, accompanied by rarely heard gems from the Renaissance period and select modern pop songs including Bon Iver’s ‘Skinny Love’.

During this beautiful afternoon audiences will hear music relating to each body part - the eyes, the hands, the mouth, the feet, the blood, and finally, the heart.

Luminescence are a brilliant example of how the dexterity of the human voice lends itself gorgeously to the rich and pure tones of Renaissance music – and this program sung acapella is no exception.

“The space was like salt and honey. Sweet, smooth, earthy. It all made sense, like it was always supposed to be. The quintessentially Australian landscape outside was beautifully juxtaposed with an underground warehouse in New York feel as you stepped through the heavy green doors to find your seat.

The lighting was enticing and suggestive, hydrangeas and birds of paradise florals like three dimensional oil paintings, set beside vintage gear waiting to be played.

Heath’s voice was like smoke from a fire. Like the mouth feel of whisky warming the cockles. Songs of all seasons…. songs that make you feel like you are walking boots through water soaked fields. Melodic pictures evoked of heartbreak, tending to crops, chopping wood and tales told under starry nights.

Thank you for the invitation to partake in the vulnerable space that is producing an album. May it capture what we as an audience were able to witness.“
