MEET ANDREA 🎹 | Our Easter Concerts curator is a vibrant, warm and engaging artist who brings something truly remarkable to the Four Winds ‘25 programming. Want to know more? Read on!

ARIA-nominated pianist Andrea Lam @andrealampianist has been hailed as a “real talent” by The Wall Street Journal, and is a regular performer on international stages including Australasia, The US, Japan and China, with engagements from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. As a soloist, she has shared the stage with leading orchestras and chamber ensembles and will soon be on television screens Australia-wide as the host of ABC TV’s ‘The Piano’, exploring the stories of 75 Australians and their connection to the piano, alongside Harry Connick Jr. and Amanda Keller.

Her 2024 season included soloist engagements with Queensland Symphony Orchestra with conductor Umberto Clerici, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra with conductor André de Ridder, Sydney Symphony Orchestra for works by Nigel Westlake, Lior and Lou Bennett, and with Orchestra Victoria for Arts Centre Melbourne. Chamber concerts included a return with the Australian String Quartet at UKARIA, with the Australia Ensemble UNSW (Sydney), at the Sanguine Estate Music Festival, as well as solo performances for Musica Viva, at the Melbourne Recital Centre, and regional touring.

Hamed Sadeghi (Four Winds Festival 2021) is a multi-award-winning Persian-Australian tar player and composer, renowned for blending Persian classical music with Western contemporary and jazz influences. Fresh from an international tour, Hamed will be joined by Sohrab Kolahdooz, an accomplished percussionist and music educator. Kolahdooz has worked internationally, collaborating with musicians and enriching music education programs across the globe.

After a sold out premiere screening in early Feb, FLING is delighted to screen MY BLACK DOG at Narooma Kinema before it tours regional NSW with accompanying wellbeing workshops.

Catch this impactful work, featuring young artists from FLING Company. My Black Dog takes an honest and realistic look at the situations adolescents in regional centres are facing, speaking to them directly about what’s going on and striving to develop a youth centric approach to tackling these issues.

The project provides a multi-generational take on mental health issues and their impacts. It has been co-designed with young people, for young people.

EASTER ARTIST | 🎻 Tobias Breider has been Principal Violist of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra since 2011. Previous Principal positions include the Hamburg State Opera under Simone Young, the Rhine Opera Düsseldorf and the Konzerthaus Berlin.

As a soloist with the Sydney Symphony he has performed at the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Domain, Parramatta Park and Sydney Town Hall.

Sought after as a chamber musician Tobias regularly collaborates with ensembles such as the Australia Ensemble, Selby&Friends, Ensemble Q and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and appears at Festivals all over Australia.

In 2024 he presented a duo program with australian actor John Bell and now, we are so lucky to have him as part of ‘Andrea Lam & Friends’ our ‘25 Easter program!

In Partnership with Sculpture Bermagui, Walbunja/Monaro artist Cheryl Davison presents Warigamban at Four Winds. A special thanks to @sculpturebermagui and Katt Doolin for these images of the opening event last Sunday.

Warigamban is a large-scale sculptural and screen print installation that brings stories of Country, cultural practice, and Dreamtime to life.

Meaning ‘a long time ago’ in the Dhurga language, Warigamban shares two stories:

✨ The ancient Yuin practice of breadmaking, celebrating Elder knowledge and time spent together.

WORKSHOP | This past week @vandiemensfiddles were in residency inside the Windsong Pavilion leading up to their Songs of the Sea performance 🎻

They held a workshop with members of the Bega Valley Youth Orchestra and had a brilliant time connecting with these bright young sparks exploring their creativity.

“It was really wonderful to get to spend a concentrated block of time in the Windsong Pavilion, first for a residency where we were working on our new show Sirens, and then for a performance of a joint show with Mikelangelo to your beautiful audience. The residency was really special - as a quartet of busy freelancers, it’s not often we get to concentrate on a development together as a group, let alone for several days in a row! The in-depth work we were able to do with the gift of this time, space, and calm and inspirational environment was essential to Sirens becoming the best version of itself. We were able to meet some of the young musicians in your community through workshops with the Bermagui Pre-School and the Bega Valley Youth Orchestra, who were a delight to work with. And then to see Windsong transformed into a welcoming, vibrant performance space with Songs of the Sea with Mikelangelo felt like a full circle. Thank you so much!” - @vandiemensband

RESIDENCY RECAP | “The Van Diemens Fiddles had an inspirational time at Four Winds in the last week. Housed in the beautiful acoustics of the Windsong Pavillion, we worked on bringing together many different aspects of the show into a cohesive whole: a program of almost exclusively new works and arrangements, combined with electronic tracks, field recordings, set design and a myth re-telling.

We loved the chance to collaborate with the wonderful Lindy Hume and Matt Marshall to guide the theatrical aspects of the show. We also had ocean swims, delicious bakery treats and even witnessed the aftermath of a shipwreck that occurred while we were there. An eventful week!“ - @vandiemensfiddles

Sculpture Bermagui is back in 2025 after a wildly successful exhibition in 2024 that saw record entries from artists across Australia and beyond. After 19 years as a highlight of the sculpture calendar, the event continues to grow from strength to strength.

With a combined prize pool of $50,000 in 2025, renowned sculptor David Jensz will judge the major prize, while curators Victoria Nelson and Carolyn Killen will once again oversee the event’s unique spaces.

Set beneath the auspicious gaze of sacred Mount Gulaga, overlooking the pristine waters of Horseshoe Bay to the Tasman beyond, Sculpture Bermagui invites visitors to experience art in a setting of stunning natural beauty.

Outdoor works will again be displayed on Dickinson Point Headland, while those more vulnerable to the elements will be showcased across Four Winds, Bermagui Surf Club and 7 Art Space. All locations (with the exception of Four Winds, just a 9min drive south) are within easy walking distance of the main street, accommodation, cafes, and restaurants.

Entirely community-driven, supported, and free, Sculpture Bermagui welcomes visitors into the heart of Bermagui to enjoy nine days of beautiful art on the Sapphire Coast.

Sailors! Who is ready for songs of the sea… Mikelangelo certainly is!

“The Windsong Pavillion is one of my favourite venues anywhere in the world. An intimate concert hall in the Australian bush, with the not so distant sound of waves crashing on the beach. And not just any beach, but the ancient Cuttagee Beach on beautiful Djiringanj country.

At Four Winds I’ve played sold out shows with the Black Sea Gentlemen, recorded an album with amazing south coast musicians, and now, I’m performing there with Van Diemen’s Fiddles, who i adore.

Every songwriter dreams of hearing their songs with strings. The sublime orchestrations of Van Diemen’s Fiddles makes Songs Of The Sea a delight to perform. I can’t wait to sing these songs in the Windsong Pavillion for far south coast audiences.”

ANNOUNCEMENT | Hamed Sadeghi with Sohrab Kolahdooz

Hamed Sadeghi (Four Winds Festival 2021) is a multi-award-winning Persian-Australian tar player and composer, renowned for blending Persian classical music with Western contemporary and jazz influences. Drawing on his extensive training in Tehran, Sadeghi’s music reflects both his deep cultural roots and his innovative vision.

Fresh from an international tour, Hamed will be joined by Sohrab Kolahdooz, an accomplished percussionist and music educator. Kolahdooz has worked internationally, collaborating with musicians and enriching music education programs across the globe.

Together, Sadeghi and Kolahdooz create a powerful musical partnership, fusing intricate tar melodies with masterful percussion rhythms.

Join us for an evening in the Windsong Pavillion that will transcend cultural boundaries, merging Eastern and Western traditions into immersive soundscapes. Delight in the innovative compositions and improvisations of artists who continue to push the boundaries of their craft, while enjoying delicious food and drinks in the beautiful surrounds of Four Winds.
