Lior

Lior burst onto the Australian music scene in 2005 with his debut album, Autumn Flow, which was independently recorded and featured the hit single “This Old Love.” The album gained significant airplay on Triple J and achieved Platinum status, marking it as one of the most successful independent debuts in Australian music history. It earned Lior three ARIA nominations, including Best Male Artist, and led to a live album, Doorways of My Mind, in 2006, which also received ARIA nominations.

His second album, Corner of an Endless Road, released in 2008, debuted at #2 on the Australian Albums chart and showcased his Middle Eastern influences. Lior continued to tour extensively and collaborated on various projects, including a notable orchestral work titled Compassion with composer Nigel Westlake, which premiered in 2013 and won the ARIA for Best Classical Album.

Lior has released additional albums, including Tumbling Into the Dawn (2010) and Scattered Reflections (2014), the latter featuring the song “Learn to Live,” which was used in the film Paper Planes. He has also contributed to children’s music, writing songs for the ABC show Giggle and Hoot, and performed at significant events, including the 100-year anniversary of the Gallipoli landing.

In theatre, Lior made his debut in Fiddler on the Roof and composed the score for The Wider Earth, which received critical acclaim. His recent collaborations include works with the Tinalley String Quartet and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and he has been recognized for his contributions to the music industry, including receiving the Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship in 2019.

Lior’s upcoming sixth studio album, The Blue Parade, is set for release in September 2024, continuing his legacy as a versatile and influential artist in the Australian music landscape.
