For the first time, Mikelangelo and The Black Sea Gentlemen perform their iconic album Journey Through The Land Of Shadows in full. Released in 2005, this album is considered by many to be their magnum opus, resplendent with the group’s darkly glittering musicality and theatricality. Including the rousing Wandering Song, the joyously absurd One Of Those A Minor Days, their famous anthem to food and sex, A Formidable Marinade and many more Gentlemen classics. These songs are among the first Michael Simic (AKA Mikelangelo) wrote, defining his style in his early 20s, long before the band were a twinkle in his eye. It is The Black Sea Gentlemen who brought these songs to glorious life a decade later.
Mikelangelo is a charming and compelling host on the journey, his vivid poetry, disarming humour and powerful baritone marking each port of call along the way. The Black Sea Gentlemen make excellent travelling companions, with their unique take on Eastern European stylings and striking cameo performances and storytelling, adding to the richness and entertainment of the performance.
The group are revered throughout Australia and the world for their five-star shows from the Sydney Opera House, to London’s West End, to the back blocks of Budapest.
