As far as personalities go, Rachmaninoff and Kreisler could not have been more contrasting in their styles. Rachmaninoff, a cool and collected perfectionist was in stark contrast to Kreisler who was one of the most flamboyant musicians of his day.

Yet this unlikely duo struck a friendship and a mutual respect performing and making arrangements of each others compositions. You will hear some of that flamboyance in the performance of Kreisler’s own composition Viennese Rhapsodic Fantasietta which concludes today’s performance.

It’s wonderful to think that 90 years later, here in Barragga Bay two of the finest musicians working in Australia performed in a new duo to revisit and celebrate Rachmaninoff and Kreisler’s collaboration, performing works by some of the world’s greatest composers from the 19th and 20th Centuries.
