Artists in Schools Fundraising Campaign

“This year (2018) I was invited to partake in a masterclass with world renowned and Grammy award nominated classical concert pianist Joyce Yang who graciously donated her time while she was in Australia doing a series of concerts. The amazing people at Four Winds Bermagui are incredibly passionate about young local musicians and artists in general. They have a tremendous interest in providing young aspiring professional musicians with as many worthwhile opportunities as possible, and believe that young artists must have been adequately exposed to professional resources which is a feeling I share. I will be performing at the upcoming Youth Festival in November at Four Winds. I will be playing as part of a piano trio with two professional musicians which is a rare opportunity that I would simply not get if it were not for the passion the people at Four Winds hold for music education.”

Music: Share your passion

“I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning.” – Plato

With the support of our donors, Four Winds has established

A significant program of music activities in 4 pre and 5 primary schools to enhance the school’s own music curriculum.

  • Two inspirational artists have been working in these schools to deliver regular activities in percussion and singing; the building blocks for young people to be able to express themselves and to be engaged in music throughout their life.
  • We have launched the Four Winds Youth Music Festival – a huge celebration of young talent, a coming together of many children to share in the joy of making music.
  • We are providing Professional Development for Teachers and music leaders, both in and beyond the classroom and nurturing incredibly talented emerging professional artists.
  • Children from five primary schools regularly come to Four Winds to experience amazing live performances, talk about what they have experienced and respond creatively. It’s a unique approach, which we are really proud of.
  • With your support we can, together, share our passion for live music with young people and ignite a lifelong fascination and love of music, with all the benefits that brings.

Share your passion, Together, the Four Winds Community is enabling a transformative change in music activities for young people. Our aim is for that to continue long into the future.

Together we are making a major investment in music activities delivered in schools to enhance the curriculum.

Our artists-in-schools program adds incredible value to the curriculum because many young people simply don’t have regular access to music activities. Our investment makes sure that every young person can share in the joy of music.

Together we are sharing our passion for music by making an investment in young people’s creative futures; they are the musicians, composers and audiences of the future.

Our ambition is to sustain our musicians-in-schools program on an ongoing basis; we would love you to be part of a joint investment over the coming years.

We are seeking donors who wish to share their passion for music by making a donation to enable our musicians-in-schools program.

The cost of the Four Winds musicians in schools program is $50,000 per year. We are keen to sustain this activity in the long term; please consider making your donation a Recurring Donation for the next three years.

A donation of

  • $250 will enable one musician – a singer or percussionist – to inspire young people by delivering a whole day of music activities in a school.
  • $500 will enable two musicians to inspire young people by delivering music activities in schools, for a day each.
  • $1,250 will enable a musician to spend five days delivering music activities in schools
  • $12,500 will provide a whole term’s worth of weekly music activities in schools led by a professional musician.

Our aim is to work in schools for at least two terms per year. Therefore, a donation of

  • $25,000 will enable young people to work with an inspirational professional musician – either a singer or percussionist – in their school for two terms.

Our aim is to deliver singing and percussion activities in schools for two terms per year. This requires at least two musicians – a singer and a percussionist. A donation of

  • $50,000 will place a singer and a percussionist in schools for two terms to work with and inspire our young people.

A recurring donation will ensure that young people can grow into their creative future

Each year we fundraise to deliver our program for young people; we appreciate every donation we receive.

Please consider a recurring donation to Four Winds. This will give us the certainty that we need to be able to deliver an on-going program of music activities for young people. through which they can grow into their creative future.

Thank you.

Passion, Fascination, Joy

Passion, Fascination, Joy

We know that the Four Winds community is passionate about music, is passionate about coming together to share in the joy of music and to discover new delights. We have the opportunity to instill the same love and passion for music in young people through a sustained program of music activities over the coming years.

The inspiration that comes from working with professional musicians and experiencing live music unleashes a creative response from young people. They take part, sing, play, compose, share, watch and listen. These are amazing skills for a creative life, whatever their musical journey.

Our sustained program of music education aims to provide each child in 4 pre and 5 primary schools four live music experiences per year which include making their own creative response led by local artists; regular school-wide music activities in singing and percussion, ongoing teacher and music-leader training and the opportunity to perform and celebrate their creative achievements in a major Youth Music Festival. Our program reaches over 1000 children with these activities.

Singing and Percussion

Singing and Percussion

We’ve created a program that is open to all young people in school, regardless of age or ability

We are building our program for young people on singing and percussion, the two core elements of music making and self-expression. They open the door to a lifelong passion for music, as a performer, creator or simply a lover of music. Our program is delivered in schools, by professional musicians and is additional to any music activities the schools may have.

Taking part in singing and percussion activities allows young people to explore their own creativity as well as experiencing the joy of making music together.

Singing and percussion are accessible to all: they are not exclusive and don’t require young people to have specialist equipment to take part. They also add value to their schooling ‘the rhythms and patterns in music and the arts are key to learning’.

Our musicians-in-schools program demonstrates that children of all ages can be reached through singing and percussion. These are accessible activities open to all, of any ability. Studies have consistently shown that exposure to inspiring professional musicians and adults who play, perform and write music is one of the most motivating factors for young people starting and maintaining their interest in musical activities.
