Shine is a biographical drama that tells the true story of a gifted Australian classical pianist prodigy. David Helfgott’s (Geoffrey Rush) musical ambitions generate friction with his overbearing father. When Helfgott travels to London on a musical scholarship, his career as a pianist blossoms. However, the pressures of his newfound fame, coupled with the echoes of his tumultuous childhood, conspire to bring Helfgott’s latent schizophrenia boiling to the surface. A bittersweet film about the triumph of the human spirit.
Luca’s passion for music began when he commenced lessons at 6 years of age. At 15, Luca plays the piano, violin and viola and currently accompanies ‘Spirit Allegro’ Choral Choir. Most recently, he has been involved in singing and music workshops at Four Winds and was privileged to enjoy a fantastic masterclass with world-renowned pianist Simon Tedeschi. In 2015 Luca received a High Distinction in his Certificate of Performance in Pianoforte. In 2016 he was awarded first in the Classical Section of the St Cecilia Scholarship. Luca is currently preparing for his AmusA in Pianoforte and hopes to one day travel and study overseas to follow his dream of becoming a Concert Pianist and be involved in making beautiful cinematic orchestral music around the world.
