Bran Nue Dae
An Australian musical comedy-drama feature film adaptation of the 1990 stage musical Bran Nue Dae by Jimmy Chi, the film tells the story of the coming of age of an Aboriginal Australian teenager on a road trip in the late 1960s. Accompanied by the joyous sounds of country gospel with Broome-style Broadway dancing, comes a road musical that celebrates the adventure of finding your way back home.

Chelsy Atkins
Singer/songwriter Chelsy Atkins hit the ground running in 2017, completing a small tour of NSW including appearances at Tamworth Country Music Festival, Granite Town Festival in Moruya and the iconic Murrah Hall where she supported The Strides. Currently residing on the far south coast of NSW, this girl from the bush grew up surrounded by world acclaimed musicians including her father Mark Atkins, internationally renowned didgeridoo player. Being exposed to this artistry and culture has influenced Chelsy’s unique sound of Indigenous folk–rockin’ pop. Her captivating, melodic songs weave tales of life and truth, enhanced by her hypnotic guitar playing and a powerful voice that bends and flicks like the sounds of a didgeridoo. Chelsy Atkins is a sought after performer at festivals and events across the South East region of NSW, and plans to focus her energy on writing and recording original material and touring when she can.

Inside Llewyn Davis
Set in New York City and infused with the transportive sound of another time and place, this fictional period drama from the Coen Brothers follows a week in the life of idealistic young folk singer, Llewyn Davis, as he struggles to make a name for himself in the folk scene of the early 1960s, against seemingly insurmountable obstacles – some of them of his own making.

Joshua Wellington
Joshua is a singer songwriter from Verona on the far south coast of NSW, not far from the Four Winds site. He started playing guitar when he was eleven years old with local legend, Dave Crowden, who gave him a solid foundation in playing techniques. In his teen years Joshua started to jam with other musicians and began exploring songwriting and singing in earnest. Joshua has recently moved back to the South Coast, having moved around and lived in various towns and cities in both Australia and abroad. Inspired by the beautiful, wild bushland of his home and influences including classic 60s and 70s music through to blues, acoustic, rock and pop, this predominantly solo performer uses guitar loops to create a full, acoustic alternative folk blues sound.

Texture Like Sun

Pop-Up Cinema | Once (M)

5 January | 7pm | Sound Shell

Including Live Performance at 7pm | Texture Like Sun

Once
Once is about a chance meeting of two kindred spirits who come together because of their love of music. This arthouse modern musical directed by John Carney, featuring a cast comprised entirely of professional musicians, was shot for next to nothing in 17 days. Once tells the story of a Dublin-based busker and vacuum cleaner repairman (Glen Hansard) as he enters into a relationship and collaboration with an Eastern European pianist and florist (Markéta Irglová).

Texture Like Sun
Since the release of his debut EP, Texture Like Sun has played key supports with Ed Sheeran, Bettye Lavette, Allen Stone, Ella Hooper and traveling with Local Natives on their east coast tour. The music of Texture Like Sun has been used on numerous TV and film projects both in Australia and abroad. The EP was critically lauded through press and blogs worldwide. Earthy vocals draw parallels to Jeff Buckley and Scott Matthews, while there’s a certain zealousness that sees him paint his folk and roots stylings through accounts of both brighter times and others of fragile refrain. Texture Like Sun may just seem to be another artist dwelling on the human condition, but there’s a quality about him that ascends well beyond simple plaintive lyricism.

Shine
Shine is a biographical drama that tells the true story of a gifted Australian classical pianist prodigy. David Helfgott’s (Geoffrey Rush) musical ambitions generate friction with his overbearing father. When Helfgott travels to London on a musical scholarship, his career as a pianist blossoms. However, the pressures of his newfound fame, coupled with the echoes of his tumultuous childhood, conspire to bring Helfgott’s latent schizophrenia boiling to the surface. A bittersweet film about the triumph of the human spirit.

Luca Ziino
Luca’s passion for music began when he commenced lessons at 6 years of age. At 15, Luca plays the piano, violin and viola and currently accompanies ‘Spirit Allegro’ Choral Choir. Most recently, he has been involved in singing and music workshops at Four Winds and was privileged to enjoy a fantastic masterclass with world-renowned pianist Simon Tedeschi. In 2015 Luca received a High Distinction in his Certificate of Performance in Pianoforte. In 2016 he was awarded first in the Classical Section of the St Cecilia Scholarship.
